When we had to change the university's existing photo library solution in a hurry, Piwigo seemed a good compromise. We needed a solution that was quick and easy to set up, enabling us to technically manage a large image database with indexing, metadata management and search capabilities akin to an EDM or DAM solution, a real publishing and sharing interface with access rights management, operational interfacing with the school's information system and seamless integration into my Lightroom workflow. After two years, Piwigo has given us a great deal of satisfaction, far beyond the transitional solution we expected. Although the DAM functions still need to be enhanced, the flexibility provided by the customization and plug-in system and the open source development mode make it a scalable, adaptable and robust solution, capable of elegantly covering the essentials.

Having just returned from a wonderful family trip, we needed to find a way to share our photos while making it easy to distribute them to our friends. Being an open source promotor, unwilling to share photos with GAFAMs and having a web hosting, Piwigo was the perfect solution! Modular as you like, easy to use... As a professional photographer, I have been using piwigo for 1 year. The feature in piwigo took my attention is I could create categories and let specific users access to them with a password so easily. So I could offer privacy to my clients with the ease of browsing that piwigo offers. I have over 5000 images in my piwigo system. One of the best thing is after you upload original files resizing to different sizes are done only once. Once file is resized it is cached and ready to be served from the disk. The mobile site is fantastic. I could show a gallery to anyone without teaching the interface. Mobile apps makes upload very easy.
